First Underwater Footage: Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill at Source

Thank you, BP, for making visible yet another of the typically hidden and invisible facts of the global fossil fuel energy economy. As horrifying as the oil spill is, at least it forces us to take a hard, unavoidable look at the hidden costs of oil drilling. It’s a regrettable fact that, typically, only crises of epic proportion can spur us to action to promote, fund, and create cleaner, more renewable sources of energy.
